The short answer: household trash and recycling can go to any of Union County's five residential waste and recycling centers. Bulky items, construction and demolition debris, yard waste, appliances, tires and scrap metal go to the Union County Landfill at 2125 Austin Chaney Road in Wingate.

Union County doesn't provide curbside garbage or recycling collection in unincorporated areas. Town residents usually have curbside service through their town's hauler, but larger loads still end up at the landfill.

When a dumpster makes more sense than hauling it yourself

  • It's more than a trip or two. Remodels, roof tear-offs and whole-house cleanouts fill a pickup many times over. A 20-yard dumpster holds about 20 cubic yards.
  • It's construction debris. Drywall, lumber, shingles and flooring have to go to the landfill anyway, not the convenience centers.
  • You don't have a truck, trailer or tarp. We bring the container and haul it away.
  • You'd rather keep working. Fill it as you go over 7 days instead of stopping for dump runs during landfill hours.

Snappy's prices are $375 for a 10-yard, $425 for a 15-yard, $450 for a 20-yard and $650 for a 30-yard, with delivery, pickup, 7 days and a weight allowance included. Most of what we haul goes to the same Union County Landfill. Clean fill dirt, brick and concrete are recycled, and metal goes to the scrap yard in Monroe. See every fee.
