Dumpsters for concrete, dirt and other heavy debris
Concrete, dirt, brick, block, stone and tile are small in volume but very heavy. A single cubic yard of broken concrete can weigh around 2 tons, and a cubic yard of dirt roughly 1 to 1.5 tons, so a heavy-debris dumpster fills up by weight long before it looks full.
That is why Snappy recommends our 10-yard dumpster for most heavy debris. Its low walls make it easy to load by hand or wheelbarrow, and a smaller container keeps the load within what our trucks can safely carry. Every rental includes delivery, pickup, 7 days and a weight allowance, with extra weight billed to the hundredth of a ton.

Load partway, not to the top
A full dumpster of concrete or dirt would be far heavier than a truck can legally haul. Heavy loads are filled only partway, so text us a photo and we will tell you how high to load.
Mixed loads
Mixing heavy debris with lighter remodeling waste? A 15-yard can work. Tell us what is going in and we will size it so you do not need a second haul.
Weight over the allowance is $95 per ton, billed to the hundredth of a ton. For example, a load that comes in 1.5 tons over the 1-ton allowance on a 10-yard adds $142.50.

Tips for loading heavy debris
Ask how high to fill
Text a photo of the pile to 704-690-4445 before you start and we will give you a fill line for that load.
Spread it evenly
Load heavy material across the floor of the dumpster instead of piling it at one end. It is safer to haul and easier to dump.
Protect your driveway
Heavy loads put more weight on the rails. Driveway protection boards are available on request; just ask when you book.

Heavy debris dumpster FAQs
What size dumpster is best for concrete or dirt?

Can I fill a dumpster to the top with concrete?
No. Concrete and dirt are so heavy that a full container would be far over what a truck can legally haul. Heavy debris is loaded only partway. Text us a photo and we will tell you how high to fill for your load.
How much does concrete weigh in a dumpster?
Broken concrete weighs roughly 2 tons per cubic yard, and dirt roughly 1 to 1.5 tons per cubic yard, depending on moisture. That is why heavy-debris loads go over the weight allowance quickly.
How much does a heavy debris dumpster cost?
