Ian Olmsted
Ian Olmsted, PhD, is a chemist turned entrepreneur. He founded Snappy Dumpster Rental in Monroe, North Carolina in November 2022 and still runs it day to day. He sets the pricing, reviews what goes on this website, answers the main line himself, and backs up the driving crew when the schedule gets tight.
Snappy now runs five roll-off trucks and more than 100 dumpsters in 10, 15, 20 and 30-yard sizes, serving homeowners and contractors across Union County and the Greater Charlotte area.

Ian earned a PhD in chemistry and spent his career in corporate America, including work as a product manager at Honeywell, before deciding to build something of his own. In 2018 he and his family moved to Monroe from Louisville, Kentucky, and Union County has been home ever since.
He started Snappy in November 2022 with a simple idea: dumpster rental should work like any good online purchase, with a clear price, easy booking and a dumpster that shows up when promised. The scientist in him shows up in how the company runs: every load is weighed, overage is billed to the hundredth of a ton, and the numbers on this website come straight from Snappy's own records.

Every size has one flat price you can see and book online. Overage is billed to the hundredth of a ton from the landfill scale ticket, never rounded up to a full ton.
